You’re in the conversation. Ostler is listening – so you don’t have to.

As you talk, it writes the notes you’d otherwise be scribbling – the promise, the name, the date.

The phone stays down. You stayed present; Ostler remembered.

Taking notes ruins the moment

Sitting across from someone you actually want to listen to, half-present, transcribing instead of thinking – that is a bad trade, and everyone who has made it knows it. You either stay in the conversation and lose the details, or you catch the details and leave the room.

Ostler started here, with something small and human: be in the conversation. It will remember for you. Everything else the product does grew out of working out what that one promise requires.

Capture that does not need you to perform

Meetings and conversations are captured and processed into summaries, commitments and clean transcripts – after the fact, without you narrating for a microphone. The remembering happens, and you do not have to hold it in your head or thumb it into an app while a person waits.

Afterwards, the moment is already a tidy card: what you said you would do, what they asked for, the small thing worth remembering next time. Not a recording to re-listen to. A memory you can read in five seconds.

The details you would have been scribbling – names, promises, the date that matters – are captured for you. So the only thing left for you to do in the room is the one thing you came to do: be in it.

It stays quiet until it is useful

A memory that interrupts is just another notification. Ostler surfaces what you need when you need it – the brief before the meeting, the commitment before it goes stale – and otherwise gets out of the way. Presence is the point; the memory is what makes presence affordable.

It does not pretend to know what you have not told it.

Presence is why Ostler exists. The founder’s story starts with the same bad trade – and the memory it can hold for you is only worth trusting because of where that memory lives: on your Mac, going nowhere.

Put the phone down. Be there.
